JOHN YOU HAVE FOOT-IN-MOUTH DISEASE, but so does Lisbeth. She doesn't know much about him other than the obviously biased view that Jesse has, but she doesn't really take stock in it unless she's had personal interaction with them. And while their only interaction had been when she announced Mary's death and their fight at the bar, she doesn't think John is evil.
She's pretty sure he loves Mary alot because he wouldn't have reacted the way he had when she told him she'd died and Mary wouldn't have made it a point for Lisbeth to tell him before she died. And because of that, she feels sorry for him that Mary isn't really paying attention to him. He might have done something to deserve it because relationship problems are always 50/50, but he must feel lonely.
And she feels sorry for him because she knows what that's like.
