After he turned 14 and The Event happened, I don't think Chris gave Prue a lot of thought. He was too consumed with his own hurt and grief and then too consumed by fighting Wyatt's gathering power. He really didn't let himself have these mythological heroines anymore. The Charmed Ones were gone, after all, and there was no reason to put all of his dreams for a better future into the memory of them.
It was better to take it into his own hands and shape the future he wanted. So that's where was was at as far as it came to Prue in canon, but now he's died too and he realizes all of the ways in which he relates to Prue again.
Like, the fact that he called her up and was like "OMG VAMPIRES" and instead of her laughing it off as no big deal she took him seriously. He's not being called neurotic or crazy by her, instead she seems to take things as seriously as he does. She also is providing an emotional stability that he really needs atm, considering that he's still dealing with being stabbed by someone he thought he could trust and all of his other issues.
Internally, Chris is still a big ball of anxiety and angst. He worries that he failed Wyatt and his family, he wants to get back home but is concerned that if he does he'll just be dead again. So in the meantime, getting the chance to meet and get closer to the heroine of his childhood... that's not that bad at all. :D So far she's living up to the hype. The fact that he really thought she would kill him when they first met is actually a huge plus for him. He sort of wishes his mom, Paige and Phoebe reacted a bit more like that sometimes.
He's going to end up feeling pretty attached to her, I'm sure, and I'm really looking forward to the shenanigans they are going to get into!
