Eraqus has a great number of emotions tied to Xehanort. So very very many emotions, few of them positive in the slightest.
No small part of the huge ball of FEELS is anger. He is very very angry with you, old boy, not in the least for breaking the Precepts, scarring his face, not writing back to him for the better part of a decade even to say you were sorry or let him know you were still alive!!, wrecking their home, lying to him and. Well. Attempting to kill and/or possess and/or weaponize his students for the sole purposes of playing chicken with the Darkness Apocolypse.
And almost succeeding at said apocalypse.
(ALMOST THREE TIMES, APPARENTLY. THREE TIMES. Seriously, bro, wasn't that clue enough to maybe stop and consider maybe this wasn't the best idea in the world ever.)
Oh yeah, and stabbing him in the back. That went over well. >:|
Being in Siren's Port and learning more of the details as to exactly what has happened before -- what he missed due to his untimely departure back home, what happened at the Keyblade Graveyard, and everything at the Port itself -- will make Eraqus incredibly defensive of his apprentices, and no doubt the younger generation of keybearers one way or another, especially when he learns how much of an impact and how much harm you've caused them. Anger is a given.
There's also no small amount of guilt partied with that anger too. Had he listened longer, and discussed more and debated harder, could he have turned Xehanort away from this mad scheme? Had he but tried harder, could he have succeeded in striking him down, preventing any of this from happening to begin with? If only he'd been strong enough to stop you, if only he'd realised how far his friend had fallen sooner, if only they'd stayed in contact, if if ififififif. How many could have been spared if he'd been a better Keyblade Master.
IF, the saddest word in the dictionary.
But at the same time as he feels all this anger and guilt, this is also man who has been betrayed by someone he REALLY really trusted. And that leaves a huge amount of hurt, wound very tightly in a ball with confusion.
They were apprentices under the same master once upon a time, they've known each other for years. Eraqus had a great deal of respect (which probably started out as hero worship) for his older brother-figure, not in the least due to his incredible intellect and exceptional skill. He considered Xehanort family.
Both have worked to guard the worlds for years, and whatever their differences regarding the balance of light and darkness (and oh boy *touches scars* were there differences), he always /always/ hoped and believed that Xehanort would finally realise the dangers of darkness, and come back to his senses. Even if he didn't completely trust Xehanort when he dropped off Ventus on his doorstep, he still accepted him within the Castle and took his brother's apprentice on as his own, because he wanted to believe he meant it when he asked him for his help.
(I don't think Eraqus ever really forgave Xehanort for telling him that whether or not he'd been taken by darkness was "not his concern".)
Eraqus is a compassionate soul, and that was used against him at the Land of Departure. And may yet again be used against him, because Eraqus is likely the only man in Siren's Pull, or even their own universe, who would maybe try one last time to reach out to Xehanort and ask him to turn back. To tell him that it isn't too late. His kids and the current keybearers wouldn't likely be able to grok this at /all/, because srsly dude, you are one selfish evil sonovabitch, and Eraqus knows this BUT Eraqus also remembers the man he once called brother, and part of him desperately wants to believe that he's still in there somewhere.
I don't think part of his heart would ever really recover if it was confirmed without a doubt that every last moment of their friendship had been a lie from the very start. In the very least, he would need a lot of hugs.
..Wow, that's not very hateful at all, is it.
Still! The point remains: dare to touch his kids again, and he will kill you, Xehanort. (Or die (again) trying.)
(PS the NV is an absolute peach, and the day you attempt to reformat her, Eraqus will get DiZ to find some way to save the adorable little heart-sprite!!!! >:< )
