Oh, Jesse. Mr. Gold actually likes Jesse, but he kind of sees him as this poor sap that's getting screwed over, but doesn't know it? Not that he's not smart or anything like that, Mr. Gold definitely knows that Jesse is smart, and that he's pretty powerful here. He's very glad that Jesse on his side rather then the other, because he has a sense that he might lose if Jesse ever turns against him. Which he might; one of the bigger fears that Mr. Gold has is that Jesse will find out in some way that he was instrumental in screwing over his girlfriend when it came to the Newcomer Hunt. Not that it will happen, but Mr. Gold is very aware of what he says and how he says things when he talks to Jesse, probably more then when he talks to some others.

But, like I said, he really does like Jesse. In some ways he reminds him of his son... besides the drugs, and the power dealing, and all of the bad things Jesse does/did... okay, maybe he sees Jesse more as a pet then a son. A petson. Something like that, where he doesn't want Jesse to get hurt, just because Jesse is his backroom dealer, not anyone else's.
