Goonies Plot

With summer rolling onwards I'm bringing a plot specifically aimed at the younger members of the Port, an adventure to explore the myth of Crow's Head beach inspired by the classic Goonies movie.

Here's the rundown for you and yours to participate!

In the next few days Rue will spot a seeming thief and be compelled to investigate them (she's Teen Titan after all!), tracking the thief to the cave at Crow's Head Beach. After learning of the urban legend of the cave Rue will come to the conclusion that this must be the Crow-man, and the thief should be apprehended.

Obviously this task can only be accomplished by a group of plucky youngsters.

This team of kids will venture into the Crow-man's cave and have to find their way through natural dangers, traps, puzzles and face the Crow-man himself as well human enemies.

There will be two direct oppurtunities for your character to get in contact with Rue and be clued into this plot.

Aug 1st Rue will be making a post asking the community about the legend and if your characters shows interest she'll make an invite for them to join the investigation.

Aug 3rd there will be a log at the city library where Rue will be doing some research into the Crow's Head beach and cave, your character can approach her here to be clued in.

THIRDLY you can take the indirect route and have your character receive the information through a friend Rue has talked to (if none of these routes suit you then say so in the comments and I'll happily work something out :D)

To join your character must be under 18, and not overly powered, as I'd like to keep this plot close to the spirit of the film. If you do play a high-powered kid and still want them in think of a reason why they won't use their powers to save the day right away!

e.g If your character can fire high energy blasts the fact that they'll be underground means it wouldn't be safe for them to use their powers.

Aug 5th will be the day of the expedition into the cave.

Depending on the number of participants I receive for the plot characters may be split into groups, there will be another plot post shortly before the log goes up on Aug 5th to confirm the details. Please comment here if you do intend to join in so I can get an idea of how big a group it will be.

BUT WAIT. Don't play a youngster and still want to be part of this?

I'm looking for no more than three volunteers to play baddies out to steal the Crow-man's treasure and hunt the creature down themselves for the kids to face off against. These villains need to be bumbling yet still threatening as foes, just think of the bad guys in the movie and you're on the right track. I heartily encourage players to have fun with these NPC's, be creative and out there as you like :D

NPC's will be given access to a journal to use purely for this plot, please only volunteer if you're certain you'll have the time. The log will end with these baddies caught and left for the police by the kids.

I can offer Marco for this, as a new Teen Titan member! He is a very cunning individual and can morph a variety of animals - but he can only be in morph for two hours. But he can either be a spy or a combatant or anything you want him to be!

Sounds awesome. The kids will be making their way through a network of caves so Marco's ability will come in supper useful, and his brains for solving the puzzles :)

He's good with puzzles, but his mind tends more of tactical subversion, so he's actually better in dealing with the baddies.

Well, I definitely need to work something out for Gohan, because if you could look up "high-powered kid" in the dictionary, his picture would be there. Of course, the energy blasts and flight wouldn't be useful underground, and he's the type to avoid combat unless it's totally necessary, so it might not be too bad.

And he's brainy, too, so he could help figure out the puzzles.

(Plus, although it hasn't really been made "official" yet, he'll be a member of the Teen Titans soon enough.)

Definately! I was thinking of Gohan when I wrote that example up there actually. I think we could work it, it's just to make sure the adventure doesn't end too quick and everyone can have a chance to shine.

We said we wanted to get Rue and Mercy-as-coyote together. I'd love for the coyote to go on this little romp as a sidekick to Rue, if you're cool with that? And we need to get those two together beforehand so it makes sense?

Oof, I was out for the last few days, but oh man I definitely mind getting involved in this as Franziska's getting listless and is looking for something to do (8 and she just doesn't have any useful powers. Just her brains... and her abrasiveness...and her brains.

I will probably try to tag into either the post or the log, and hopefully Franziska isn't too frustrating to talk to that Rue would want her to stay the hell away! :b

Paddy Curran, a rough n tough fellow with only one working eye and red skin. He likes punching puppies, stealing candy from babies, and long walks in the beach kicking down sand castles. He thinks he's hilarious and smart but in reality is unfunny and really dense. Like, really dense. And he's greedy.

He also likes to think he has swag and recites rap frequently. Nothing too hardcore for the kids, though.

A gruff, bearded thug of an ex-sailor, Timoteo is a dishonorable, scheming, jealous man who unfortunately tends to lose his wits and start throwing extra-wild punches when his short, irascible temper is invoked. He is driven more by lust for skinny women than actual material wealth, but he believes he needs the latter to get the former, so the difference may be moot.

Mumbles to himself in a bear-like growl between sentences and secretly has a glass jaw despite his beefy physique.

I'd love for Czes to get in on this! Technically, he's not a child but an immortal stuck as a child forever, but he's generally pretty good at blending in with kids. He's a super-healer and also extremely clever/smart, and he has a soft spot for children, so I think he'd like to help, not just for the potential of loot, but to keep an eye on everyone.
