Newcomer Political Party Block Party!

Hey guys, Amy here! As you might have seen in the IC post that Raul just made, we’re throwing a block party! For those of you who might not know, a block party is a big party where the entire block is cordoned off, and people put up a bunch of booths, games, food vendors, and there’s always live entertainment. Just a little celebration after everyone being sick for so long, and you have to admit, we need a little fun after all of this depressing stuff. So, big party! Here are some details:

- The Block Party will be taking place Thursday, June 7th, to Sunday, June 10th. This is to make sure everyone can come on any day they want, and that we all just have a lot of fun.

- The whole thing will be in the block that the Newcomer Community Center is on, and if we find we have more stalls and vendors, it can also spread to the block next to it.

- Games! There will be all kinds of games to play, mostly simple ones like ring toss, dunk tanks, arm wrestling contest stands, anything you might want to play at one of these things, as well as prizes.

- Food! All kinds of food. Hot dogs and hamburgers, pizza, funnel cake, popcorn, cotton candy, fried Oreos, I don’t know if I can name all the types of food they have at these things. Basically, if you can eat it, they’ll have it.

- Entertainment! People dancing, both on stage and in the open space for people to dance to music. And lots of music; live bands, live singers, everything live. There will also be talent show type things, and possibly an actual talent show. If your character can juggle? We’d love to see it! If they can balance on a wire, we’d love to see it! We’d love to see it all, even if all they can do is handstands.

- Stalls! Businesses in SP can rent out a stall or two for their business. They can use this space for whatever they want, and it will help promote their business to everyone else! An example would be the NPP having a stall, and a dunk tank on that stall. If you can hit the bull’s-eye with a baseball, and dunk Raul Creed, then you win a piggy bank that has the NPP logo on it! Terrible example, I know, but it can literally be anything: if Funtom wants to have a stall that gives out cupcakes, they can! Or if Mugshots wants to hand out beer, they can do that, too. Literally, your business can do whatever they want.

- In that same vein, alcohol will be served at this thing, but only to those legal and who have a form of identification.

So, what does this mean for your character and for you as a player? Well, we’re looking for people to help run this thing! And not just that, we’re looking for people for everything. We need:

- Entertainment. We need people to sing and dance on stage, to do little side shows for people (like balloon animals or juggling or anything), and to just walk around and do things. Magic shows? Clowns? People on stilts? We could also use a few judges for some kind of talent show, if anyone wants to volunteer!

- Food. We need people to sell food! Any kind of food.

- Games. We need people to run games, and be a part of games, and to come up with games. We can have a bunch of dunk tanks, but it’s no fun having one if someone isn’t in it! Part of the money from games will go to the NPP, part of it will go to the fundraiser, and another part (a small part) will go to the group running the game.

- Stalls. Any business in SP, whether Newcomer run or affiliated, can rent a stall or two from the NPP, and set it up at the block party. Or, if you're an individual who'd like to rent a stall, that's awesome, too. We need a lot of people to do this! We’re going to have a ton of NPC stalls set up for everyone, but it’ll be a lot better if we get a lot of Newcomer stuff going on. If you rent a stall, you can give out anything from them; it costs more if you’re giving out alcohol, but you can do whatever you want there. No sex, though. Let’s keep this kid friendly, guys.

- Which brings us to the next part: we really need volunteers. We need things like security, people to help make sure the party goes smoothly, someone to handle the money that this raises, people to help take down and put up the stalls, people to make food and run games, and just… everything.

What I would like, also, if people could help come up with what they would like to see at this party! If you have a specific type of food, or a game, or some kind of stall, or a specific entertainment, let us know! We want everyone to have a good time with this, and if there’s something you’d love to see, we’ll make sure it happens. And if your character wants to promote this thing ICly? That would be amazing.

Singing and games, a go~Pegasus will definitely perform. Karaoke is awesome. And....Games? What kind of games? Card games. Board games...There simply must be a section for it.

Or puzzle games...Like a live labyrinth. Wouldn't that be interesting? With prizes to whoever gets out of it first. x3

From Thursday to Friday, Larry will be running an art commission stand. It covers everything from on-the-spot portraits or statues that will clearly take more than just a few days to finish. He'll be giving out his calling cards, showing off some of his masterpieces (unfortunately, his life-size Phoenix and Edgeworth statues may be too big and cumbersome to be dragged out here) and basically encouraging everyone to ask him to do art for them.

Saturday to Sunday, he'll be running a food stall. I'm thinking he can serve burgers and fries and pizza and fast food, with different twists. Basically he's trying to add a touch of fine dining and may be making, for example, random artwork with your pizza's toppings or something like that.

House is going to have a booth selling food!

What kind of food is up to the responses it gets from the network. It's an impressionable little thing. XD

But I imagine it will end up being oddly gourment versions of typical fair food.

Ok, so for the first day Mags is going to be selling at the House's food booth. He'll be there every morning setting the booth up and every evening taking it down.

HOWEVER. He'll be wearing an image inducor. While he's working with the House he'll be wearing the face in the icon and telling people his name is Elliot Jakobson. While he's have an addition layer of electronic smell to his scent - IT WILL NOT COVER HIS SCENT. So those with enhanced senses of smell who have met Magneto could still know it was him. Likewise, it does not mask telepathic or bio-elertic signatures. He may spend some time wandering around as Elliot as well.

But yes, Funtom will definitely have a booth there. Gilbert will probably be in charge of the bakery portion of it and keep it stocked with baked goods all day. If it's okay with Ciara, they can hold some sort of raffle where the winner can get free scones for a month or something more clever than that.

edit - after discussing it with Ciara! Is it possible for them to get a booth in the corner of the space big enough for 3 or 4 tables and chairs to host a Victorian tea party of sorts?

Violet Systems will have a game booth of Skeeball. Every participant gets to bring home a violet stress ball with the VS logo on it. Those who get to hit big scores (starting at 100) get better prizes-- stuffed unicorns in various sizes XD
