Upside Down Rooms Planning Post!

Anyway, on December 11, Discord is going to do a little experiment. Sure, he'll call it a free redecoration and then eventually a prank, but this is just him actually testing his Core-nerfed powers so he can plan ahead for some real chaos.
What is this experiment? A small trick some rooms in all buildings to be found upside down. You will be walking upside down as well, so good luck trying to get to the toilet down below so to speak. If your character has a house that might be warded against this sort of thing, go right ahead and make a little safe zone if you want! Or not, that's cool too.
It's only going to last the entire day and night and will be gone at December 12 at dawn. If your character is in an upside down room, expect your character to experience a nasty crash.

This is tentative game plot calendar for the month of December. If you have a plot in the works that you want to bring up now, so everyone can be involved, please mention it below.
If you're plotting ahead for something which will affect a significant number of people, like breaking a sewer main in a Sector, shutting down a frequented location, causing a lot of widespread status effects etc, please let us know early so we can give everyone a quick rundown idea of what's going on when. This is also to help keep from too many plots from stacking up on top of each other.
Event Form
We've got a nice month ahead folks, but still plenty of space to schedule your midwinter shennanigans! As in Siren's Pull Holiday Seasons past, our IC Gift Exchange Meme will go up on the 20th, to keep all the present exchanges in one convenient listing place.
- December 1st-6th Leviathan Rampage (Throughout the city; Castiel Player Plot, Details HERE)
- December 10th - Spencer's Reindeer Games (Did I hear Hunting Grounds Sabotage Revenge plot? 'Cause I'm thinkin' Open Log)
- December 11th - Upside Down Rooms (Citywide Curse, Discord Player Event)
- December 12th - THE END OF DAYS!! ... (just kidding.) But the Mayan's were almost right, for Siren's Port.
Prepare for the Normpocalypse 2012: Total citywide Void on all powers for 24 hours. Everyone's effected, no opt-outs.
- December 18th - Wacky Status Effect Holiday Hats. Citywide, but optional to hat-wearers. More info TBA
- December 21st - A Very Viking Yultide: Joltide Extravaganza at Nibbleheim (Open Log, for interested parties)

Basically, I'm bringing you guys a bunch of stuff right now, probably should go on the cr meme when it comes up, but I'm slowly getting back into the game from my hiatus! So there have been some new people who've arrived and people who have gone home, so I might as well make an introduction to the Teen Titans stuff first.

The second thing I have is not with the Titans or anything, but is about The Newcomer Community Center. We're currently looking for an assistant director for it, who'll work closely with Vesper Lynd, our current director. We need someone for it, desperately. But a few things with the center, we do have some things planned!

Sorry about this getting so long! Third thing I have here is that Doctor Kenzo Tenma works as a doctor at SP General. He also works with AGI, and in the newcomer clinic, as well. Basically, he's a doctor that's gotten around to many different people. Which is the point of this! A group will be creating a website soon that is basically a "rate your doctor" website.

Final thing, I promise! I've been talking about doing an open log with Rorschach, where he develops his powers, which can be explained in his Permission's Post. Basically, Rorschach is able to go through any kind of fridge, and come out of another fridge anywhere else on the island. Yes, he can travel through fridges. He can't control where he goes, though (at least not yet), so when he goes through a fridge, he has no idea where he'll end up, or who he might meet. So, I'm wondering if people would like to participate in a Rorschach open log, where he breaks into your apartment, probably eats your food, then leaves through the fridge. It's gonna be pretty cool, it'll be a great way to get some random CR, and I hope there's some interest in it!

You may or may not know Jesse Pinkman. This is Jesse. He's been here a while. Generally nice guy, throws lots of parties, known to be a recovering addict and accused of being a drug dealer once, but anyway really nice in most cases. (Posted just yesterday, if you want to tag him here.)
Jesse's actually not a drug dealeranymore. But he is a criminal. He has a day job as a legit pharmaceutical chemist for SERO, but in his spare time he makes most of his profit trading superpowers in the back room of Mr. Gold's pawn shop. He has become enormously rich doing this (as evident in that post up there) and has plans for that money which will eventually benefit the Newcomer community. At least, he hopes it will.
In the meantime, he's mostly securing power for himself by making alliances and... well, literally amassing power. As in, superpowers.
The problem with Jesse is he can't actually use any of the superpowers he gathers. He only has to sell a tiny percentage of what he gains to get as much money as he needs, since being kind of the only guy who can do this means he can set the prices himself. That leaves him with a whole stockpile. Most of the time, he's just waiting for someone worthy to give a power to.
I've invited a lot of people in the past to buy powers from Jesse. Some people have. But Jesse's going to start looking for people to gift powers to. People he can trust, people who will repay him by following his orders.
"Following his orders"? What's that mean? Well, basically, Jesse wants the Newcomers to work like a gang. He wouldn't exactly put it like that, but that's the system he knows and understands. He wants the Towers to be turf that outsiders are afraid to approach, and eventually to expand that territory further. He wants to guarantee protection for all Newcomers against the natives. Jesse is actually very sincerely a criminal who wants to help his people.
tl;dr: I'm looking for people who want their characters to receive extra superpowers from Jesse in exchange for their loyalty. Jesse is building a super-superpowered Newcomer army.
Not even going to talk about the eventual consequences of this because I honestly don't know! It could go a lot of ways. I fully expect Jesse to make errors of judgment and maybe pay for that down the line. For now, though, I'm just focusing on the giving people powers thing. Anyone involved will have to sign a magical contract with Mr. Gold, as usual, that keeps them from ratting Jesse out to anyone. And we'll have to talk individually about how Jesse will come to notice your character enough to draw them into this operation.
But anyway raise your hand if you want some part in this because it's what Jesse's up to over the next few months.
Edit: Yeah I should note that while Jesse isn't demanding much other than silence in the contract, Mr. Gold will be asking for something from each person. However, there's a big chance that Jesse will intervene to spare your character from repayment if/when he finds out about that.

Plotting stuff for Halloween!
October 25th, 2012 07:05 pmrapturescreedSo, like Raul said in his last post on the network, there will be a Newcomer Political Party sponsored masquerade this coming Saturday, October 27th. After some intense debate and discussions, this ball will definitely be a Halloween costume party; catch is you need to have some kind of mask on. Pretty simple, right? The party will start at 7:00pm on Saturday, at the Newcomer Community Center, which will be dressed for the occasion, and it will go on for as long as you want. Aka, until morning siren, which is when last calls will be.
We're currently looking for a few things, though! If anyplace wants to cater this event, we'd love to have a newcomer place for that. We could also use anyone who might want to help decorate the place? If anyone feels up to playing bartender, or several bartenders. I know we have Sephiroth for security, so if your character wants to help with security, check with the mun on that.

SP Teen Titans Things

This post is to see if anyone might be interested in a little group of fledgling superheroes called the Teen Titans. You might know them from the TV show, the different comic books, all of those things, and this group is pretty much the same, only it's made up of Newcomers in Siren's Port, and they unfortunately don't have a tower.
If you're interested in possibly doing something with the group, maybe joining it or wanting to be some kind of bad guy the group has to occasionally fight against, even being a trainer? I've got all of the information right here:

I tried to base it around who was most likely to actually win their fights, but there’s always room for mixing things up and switching people around, especially in terms of NPCs- who, incidentally, all have short descriptions right over here. If you’d rather have a different NPC, just let me know so I can jiggle things around. This is also where I’d like to know if you want to play out or hand-wave your NPC fight! Since I’m likely to be the one doing it, I’d really appreciate a heads up before we get started. Go ahead and use this post to plan out how you want your fights to go between yourselves!
Just as a reminder, the log for the tournament itself will go up on or a little earlier than the 27th and will be set from the 27th to the 29th, with each 'stage' set on a different day. As always, we'd love to see friends, family and spectators come and watch!
On a fluffier note! This is going to go up on the news feed at some point over the next few days as a televised draw where the first round of fights are publically announced. I’ll be writing up an article/ short description of the proceedings for it, and I’d love it if anyone wanted to pitch in interview quotes or Things That Happened on the show- for example, if you want your character to be miraculously voted Most Popular With Male Fans or accidentally get into a slanging match with another competitor. This isn’t compulsory at all, and also feel free to be as serious or silly as you want. ♥

Hi guys! It's Komix bringing in my second character after almost two years with Magsy.
For those who don't know the canon, it's Raphael from Supernatural - you can read about him here and pleas please please hit up his permissions post.
ANYWAY here's the thing with Raphael so this is kinda a plotting post too. See, he's going to start out his first week stalking his castmates and then branching out to others. Doing that invisible angel stalking thing. Why? Because he doesn't know what else to do.

mouthbreathingSO. Given that we’ve got a few newcomer entrants in the tournament, I thought it would be a good idea to get the details sorted out in a little plot post. Only one character can actually win, after all, and I figured we should hash this all out before we get started on any actual logging.

This is tentative game plot calendar for the month of SEPTEMBER. If you have a plot in the works that you want to bring up now, so everyone can be involved, please mention it below.
If you're plotting ahead for something which will affect a significant number of people, like breaking a sewer main in a Sector, shutting down a frequented location, causing a lot of widespread status effects etc, please let us know early so we can give everyone a quick rundown idea of what's going on when. This is also to help keep from too many plots from stacking up on top of each other.

Toy Story Plot!
August 22nd, 2012 10:16 pmtherightchoiceI've been given the okay by the mods, so I can finally give you a nightmarish version of all those toy movies I've grown up watching, like Toy Story, Small Soldiers and Toys.
You see this kid? He's the Antichrist and he's one of the more powerful god-mods in Supernatural, a canon that has more god-mods than you can shake astaff of Moses stick at. One of his powers is reality-warping, so whatever Jesse wants, Jesse gets. The thing is that he can't control it. It's something that never occurred to Jesse and he just doesn't know how it really works. So he's been practicing, with telekinesis at first. Eventually he's going to at least try his hand on his reality warping powers. And how he does it?
With toys, of course.
Jesse will be buying a few figurines - mostly cheap animal ones and he will switch from being toys to real live animals and back to toys. And for a while, it will look like that he has mostly mastered it. But then the Core fucks it all up for the poor Antichrist.
From September 3 to September 6, these toys coming to life will be utterly random times. Animal figurines and stuffed animals will turn into actual animals.There will be herds of horses galloping down the city streets, or tigers will be stalking in someone's house. Thousands of cars, trains, planes, even military vehicles will appear, usually outside someone's house. Adoption agencies and child services will be overrun with thousands of suddenly appearing squalling infants. Action Figures will turn into real people and, depending how they were created and marketed, these figurines will go on doing things that they were preemptively thought they will do in "their" storyline. Think G.I. Joe and the Cobra Organization toys suddenly having actual bodies and start doing what they were meant to do - beat the shit out each other, guns and all. Violence will break out between gangs that police has never heard from before. Heck, even boardgames aren't immune - your house or apartment can become Siren's Pull's version of Mouse Trap, or you might have to fight for your life in a game of chess, like in Harry Potter!
Because these are happening randomly, Jesse wouldn't be able to connect the dots just yet, so he will continue practicing.
On September 7, all hell will break loose. It will be all the toys turning to life, from every self to every child's playpen. It can be amusing and harmless, like having a sudden collection of kittens. Or it can be extremely deadly like a sudden alien invasion to a kindergarten school in Sector 3. It will be utterly chaotic, and it can be liken to a war zone, depending on the toy.
At around the late afternoon, when Jesse realizes what is actually happening, he will revert everything back to normal. He won't be able to return any of the dead, but he can revert the injuries done on the NPCs and to your character. If you don't want that to happen, just let me know! Go wild with this plot!
As a note, while I gave G.I. Joe as an example, actual toy franchises aren't allowed to be fourth-walled. But you can make up your own if you like!
EDIT: Just for reaffirming and clarifying behind the scenes of this event: Around August 29/30, Jesse will be accidentally Hulking out Bruce Banner with his powers, and as a result Jesse's powers almost immediately turned Hulk into a toy as a defense mechanism. (This will be all handwaved, fyi.) From August 31 to September 6 Jesse will be focusing nearly all his energy in turning Bruce back to normal, so he won't be doing much of watching any network posts, let alone responding. On September 7 does the toy problem finally takes his attention and he will change everything back to normal, and will eventually be able to de-toy Hulk and bring him back to Bruce Banner.

Funtom Cake Challenge!
August 14th, 2012 04:26 pmretracedThat's right, come SATURDAY AUGUST 25TH Funtom will be hosting a giant competition within its kitchen's walls. What sort of contest, you may ask? Well, one that puts the best teams of bakers head to head in a competition to win cash dollars, delicious desserts and glory. Each team will have the entirety of the day to bake and decorate the most ELABORATE and TASTY cakes they can come up with, having full access to Funtom's supplies and kitchen to complete their task.
Interested? Well you should be!
Here are the details!
+ Those who sign up to bake will be put into one of three teams consisting of 4-5 people (if all works out) OR if you wish to create your own teams ICly and sign up that works too, but in total we're aiming for three teams.
+ The prize for winning will be $1000 to each individual of the winning team.
+ There will be five or so judges needed to judge the cakes. These volunteers will be kept in a room at Funtom to themselves and kept entertained with free food and entertainment such as movies/games/drinks and whatnot until it's time for the judging to begin.
+ There will be cameras installed in the kitchen to broadcast all the shenanigans on everyone's NVs, if they choose to tune into the mayhem. Viewers are invited to come down to Funtom for free desserts and tea and of course to partake in the cakes after they've been judged and the winner announced!
+ To add to this live feed, it'll essentially be a live stream of the event that everyone with an NV can comment to - think of live chats that happen during live streams. Whatever comments they send in will appear on a large screen in the kitchen to encourage (or distract) the teams. Cheer on your favourite bakers!
The contest will be run by none other than Gilbert Nightray and Ciel Phantomhive. That said, we need people to sign up and form teams or volunteer to be judges! There will have already been some promotion of this event from Funtom itself ICly via fliers and the like, but there will also be a newsfeed post and IC post from either Gilbert or Ciel asking for participants.
THAT SAID we want everyone in on this, whether participating or just commenting over the network! It's supposed to be fun and silly so, we want everyone to sign up and have fun with it.

Mary's organizing a group of preferably non-human fighters to wait outside the gates of the Hunting grounds, in anticipation of Spencer letting the survivors go at morning sirens, and storm the place once everyone is out. We're talking property damage, burnination, and full-scale witch-hunting of all the hunters they can get their hands on, and every possible attempt to make Spencer eat his underwear.
NPC Hunters: Wanna be a part of this? Any hunters left inside might have a rough time escaping with their lives. I was planning on throwing Eddie Gumb to the wolves, so to speak.
The whole thing's getting put together right here, threadjacks welcome.
This post is to plot out IC consequences near and far (and oh lord, does this plot come with high risks), and see who wants to partake in wrecking some shit. How badly the grounds get totaled, who'll get caught on camera, and who will be doing what.
Note: Mary isn't a stronger-than-human fighter, so she won't be going. :)

You see, the Core going cattywompus turned Chuck's prophetic dreams backwards. He started seeing the past- of people in the Port.
What does this mean for you? Why, it means you get to be famous, my friends. You see, Chuck tends to write his visions and sell them as novels. The book he's writing now is called Darkness People and will be a book of short stories about Newcomers.
If you sign up for this, Chuck will have had a vision about a snippet of their lives here in Siren's Port, and write a short story about it. It doesn't have to be something recent- it could be from years back, or only a few months, so long as it's interesting or poignant enough to merit being included. The whole point of Chuck writing the book is that he wants to humanize the Newcomer image to the general public, so I'd like the stories to stick to kind of universal things- moments and vignettes the natives could at least partially relate to.
