This post is for providing Constructive AND Positive feedback for fellow players regarding how they play their characters in Siren's Pull.

Constructive criticism should be just that - please avoid bashing or being rude. If you have critique for a characterization, please support it as much as possible and offer as much help as you can to the player. Remember - the point of the HMD Meme is to help fellow players, not to discourage or insult them. This goes for both giving and receiving critique.

Positive feedback is a genuine compliment or other positive aspects of how that character is played. Please avoid empty praises or general fangirling/fanboying, and try to give a viable reason that you're complimenting the fellow player - well thought out compliments always mean more, after all!

If anyone notices anything going wrong on this meme, please get hold of a mod via IM, PM, or email and let us know right away so we can deal with it appropriately.

Raul has been getting up into interesting things this month! He helped organize the Newcomers to go to the Governor during the Groundhog’s Day Plot, and now, because of his persuasion, the Governor is going to enact a Newcomer office within the current government. He’s getting ready to start his Sex Ed class at the community center, and he’s been dealing with the aftermath of all those NV virus texts.

Tim has been dealing with this whole drug plot that he and Blaine are dealing with. He’s been supportive of his friend, and he’s going to be getting help for his own addiction, though it will be through a different source then Blaine’s. He’s feeling pissed off right now that everyone who’s supposed to be Blaine’s friends from home are not doing anything to help him, and he’s angry that Kurt just gave up on him. During all this, he also managed to ask Quinn out, talked a lot to Finn, gone to a party at work, and done his usual Red Robin deal.

Snow has not been around much this month, and for that I apologize. All she really did was go to work every day for the Groundhog Day Plot, and she’s trying to help o deal. Also, she’s planning Jack and Alice’s wedding and other dinner/parties during this hopefully long engagement.

See there's this kid named Tim and JESUS WHY IS HE SO GREAT? I am so impressed with you rn, especially with this drug plot that's goin' down. There are a lot of things about Tim's viewpoints that are really problematic, but that's realistic. That's truly understandable coming from his position-- He's loyal to his bff and is a young man who seems to have relatively normal cultural values, so it makes sense. It would be so easy to write him off as insensitive and victim-blaming, but the reality of the situation is that it's just natural for people to act the way he's acting even if it's fundamentally incorrect. It takes a lot of grit to deviate from personal values to write a character, and man I commend you for that. I...hope that makes sense.

AND NOW CRIT honestly the only thing I can think of--and I'm gonna say this to Mel too--is that you guys could benefit from researching your drugs a little better. It's a sketchy and complicated subject, that's for sure, but I think it would lend a little more depth and believability to your plotline if you looked more deeply into which drugs do what and how they affect their users uniquely. If you need any help let me know, since I...unfortunately know a lot about it. :\

I love Harry, honestly. I really love his interactions with Peter, first and foremost, and he and MJ are adorable too. Harry still has his somewhat brat-ish thing going on and it's good to see both the helpful friend and the arrogant guy playing in tandem. I get the feeling that he's mostly waspish towards people because he doesn't know them and it's an entirely new situation, and if that's true, then I really like how that comes off! He's really awesome to interact with.

Lots of teenage romantic drama this month, as Valentine's Day inspired him to get serious about Namine and find a girlfriend for his best pal Roxas (that embarassing attempt to identify his 'type' didn't go so well). During Groundhog Day, he was terribly irresponsible and shirked all work in favor of kicking back. He is also currently facing an $850 fine for playing some of Pickles' band's music (liscenced by AGI) at a very public venue. He's been throwing those red warning collection agency bills in the trash, which means Bad Stuff Will Soon Happen.

Daedalus was snowed in at SERO labs for most of the snowstorm, and after 3 days of being on lockdown with Szyael's rampaging robots roaming the halls, decided it was time to cut loose and go sledding. Serious relational conversations with the boyfriend ensued. He's been looking deeper into SOLDIER genetics and getting to the heart of the Jenova Project, with a particular interest in the enigmatic General Sephiroth. (He's also been invited to their house parties. And out to meet vampires with Walter. And out for coffee with Livio.) Rolled up his doctor sleeves, saved the same infected infant 3 times in a row in the NICU during groundhog's day, and finally decided he and Washu were going to intellectually chat it up to sort things out. Currently walking and talking with Aslan, because as Lucifer well knows, Daedalus has serious deity resentment issues. He and Franz likely did something sweet for Valentine's Day, but he's conservatively hush about it, as usual.

I know I haven't said this enough, but I enjoy how complex Riku Joe Replica is. It's nice to see him joke around while trying to be helpful to a certain extent along with the flipside of being serious in other matters, and I hope to see more of that.

Earlier this month, Pickles still had the dilemma of being trapped in an AGI band that he hated, so after a conversation with Loki about his powers, Loki was all, "YO DAWG I HERD U LIKE BRUTAL CONCERTS SO I PUT THE BRUTAL IN YOUR BRUTAL CONCERT SO YOU CAN BRUTAL WHILE YOU BRUTAL." This silent partnership led to many deaths, which wasn't their intention, but it did kill the rest of Pickles's band, so that's kind of cool, I guess. Now all Pickles has to do is get out of debt with AGI with his kneecaps still in tact.

He's been up to...looots of things. Probably why my other characters have taken a little bit of a backseat this month. Settling in being number one, being in the hospital for two weeks or so after the Towers bombing event, trying to establish a presence here without attracting too many unnecessary enemies and networking to see who he can get as allies since his reputation has preceded him. He's had several conversations with his daughter Franziska that didn't go too well, as well as encounters with Miles Edgeworth that were less than...agreeable.

He was more or less propositioned by Xigbar to work for XEMC, an AGI-affiliate, and they've worked out an agreement in which he'll be helped to be reinstated as a prosecutor. Otherwise, I haven't gotten the chance to get him to do much else.

Every interaction with him is adorable, he's so polite and gentlemanly and kind. Seras is already becoming attached to him. I feel bad but so much want to have him encounter things that will offend his Victorian sensibilities (once Seras has wages she will be getting a tv and she and Walter will be having movie nights!).

Shikamaru was killed by Uryuu in late January when it became apparent that there was no rescuing him from SERO, as Szayel had turned him into a cyborg and destroyed most of his human body and free will. He has spent most of the weeks since his return in a drugged haze, ingesting more V than is good for him and landing himself in quite a bit of trouble with Yosuke and Souji. At the very least, he reunited with Seras and Edgeworth, managed to help out a bit with the time loop, and had an extremely pleasant Valentine's Day with Uryuu.

Kanji returned to Siren's Port! He reunited with Kurt immediately and they shared a tender, brief kiss, but Kanji respectfully acknowledged Kurt's relationship with Blaine and backed off. However, since Blaine was discovered with drugs and thrown out, Kanji has wrestled with the possibility of reigniting his romance with Kurt. He also left a small Valentine's gift in Naoto's room, although he expects nothing serious to come of it. Aside from his romantic escapades, Kanji had a few embarrassing encounters via the texting virus.

Shika is so complicated I want to gather him up and put him in a pillow fort forever (with a skylight). You have him react so realistically to everything he goes through, I am fascinated by his characterisation and everything going on with him *stalks* Trauma is so kawaii...

I am looking forward to future adventures with him and Seras et al.

I'm the creepy stalker who is reading the Kurt and Blaine threads. LOVE where you've gone with Kurt, I think it's very realistic to his character to react the way he has and it really shows growth that you can expand him into a dramatic situation like that and have it seem natural and not overdone. If that makes sense.

Phoenix is really spot on, and I like how he's taken up his old mantle with a little hesitance (because he still doesn't know everything that's gone on) and still with that exuberant vibe that he has from back home. I'm enjoying him so far!

Haruhi's hilarious to read, too, though I haven't actually interacted with her. I'd like to see more of Raven, too, but I know you've been busy.

Seriously, I just...no words. You have such a complete grasp of Finn's character in and out, in every possible way. The way you approach him is just so intuitive, from his speech patterns to his thought processes, and it just floors me every time I get a tag from you. He isn't just this perfect golden boy-- You get every little flaw of his down perfectly, because he is such a flawed character but that's what makes him so relate-able and dglshgaaljkl; I'm just so ridiculously glad he's here.

Walter has been on a harassment spree. While the victim is usually Seras Victoria, he's also gotten around to unleashing his sarcastic side on the network. He avoids letting it get in the way of his work, though, and still continues to be helpful around the house.

I need to get him out more. And not just for hunting monsters.

No I love Walter and his trolling of Seras and he should never ever stop. He's a cocky little bastard and I love him. There are so many things I want them to do together on a bunch of different levels. Even when he's being flippant you can always tell there's more depth in there to his character and it is wonderful.

Basically I love him, that is all.

basically, Naruto's only just returned and he's dealing with huge emotional fallouts and doing the best he can (on his own, as usual) to not have a meltdown. the gears are turning in his head to try to bring down the companies again, so he's looking to move out from the boarding house which no longer feels like home and away from people who could get hurt in his stupid quest.

I've mentioned this to you privately a few times, but I haven't seen much of an improvement since then, so I'm going to lay it all out there one more time. I was really excited when you told me you wanted to re-app Naruto, but as you'll remember, a few of us expressed concern because you basically spent the last half-year (before you idled out) in a pretty constant state of hiatus. It's really difficult to play a close castmate (or friend) off of someone whose absence to major events would really be noticeable.

So remember how we really stressed that you need to be more active upon re-apping? Well, I haven't seen you make any effort in that direction. It was promising when you jumped right in to put up a post the second we moved to DW, but you dropped pretty much every tag on that post after three comments and didn't look at it again for upwards of two weeks. And that was Naruto's arrival. A vital moment for everyone involved.

Obviously, I know about your RL commitments and complications, and that was why we expressed doubt in the first place when you told us you were re-apping. But you made a promise to us. I also know you're playing in four different games right now, and planning to app another character. It's kind of a blatant disregard for the concerns that have been brought to you.

I probably would live and let live, but you've been making a lot of complaints about Shikamaru distancing himself from Naruto, which kind of bothers me. It's pretty much a direct consequence of your inactivity. It's a roleplaying game, not a handwaving game, and if you expect close CR with him then you'll have to at least make a token effort to maintain it. At this point I'm extremely frustrated and I wish you had been honest about your level of commitment when we first addressed these concerns. And like I said the other day, I really don't think you need to be volunteering to organize another large plot when you're not capable of finishing a single thread in a timely manner or actively maintaining basic CR.

This is all probably coming off very harsh but... Sam, I really enjoy playing with you, but I'm questioning how fun this even is for you when people have to twist your arm to get you to respond - not just occasionally, but every time. I don't really need another promise that you'll get more active. I'd rather see you actually examine your priorities and manage your time effectively, and maybe be honest about your interest level when it comes to SP or RP in general.

Xion's been carrying on as usual, getting caught up in the spirit of Valentine's Day as well as recently celebrating her first year in Siren's Port. I know that I've been bad at getting her to interact with people outside of the cast and I am going to really work at that more this month.

Xion's voice is still solid and I love seeing her when I do, but yeah, my only real crit is expanding outside of the cast. I think the entire KH cast could use the push, including me, so you're not the only one <3 Beyond that, she's really fun to play off of and I'm glad I had time to tag her entry the other day.

Nill spent the better part of January searching for Shikamaru. She eventually found him with the use of her mindreading capabilities, and watched Uryuu kill him. She's been in an odd and lonely emotional state ever since, with small things causing her far more distress than usual. She mostly spent valentine's day by herself.

I'm so glad we were able to get you involved in the cyborg plot! It makes me really happy to see Nill take initiative and play the knight in shining armor whenever there's a chance, because you do make her such a quietly strong individual. She's so fragile, but she's really the rock in the boys' lives.

I'm hoping you get a chance to put her out there more often, now that Shikamaru isn't around to constantly shield her from the world. Sometimes I worry that his protective nature is really prohibitive for you, so maybe now that she's living on her own, she'll get a chance to branch out and find new CR? Anyway, I think all of these changes will be really interesting. Nill's growing into a strong, beautiful woman.

Larry has been dealing with castmates as well; absolutely over the moon now that he has Phoenix and Edgeworth with him again, and basically not missing an opportunity to chew Manfred out for what he's done. Sometime near the end of January, Larry started dating Leah, the rich heiress who ended up dumping him after the time loop before ending up dead. Larry then proceeded to have a major fight with Wolfson over the network over her, but has sought solace with other lonely hearts at the Lonely Hearts Club.

Anyway, I just need to know if I'm starting to make Larry too ditzy or too crazy or anything. I have to maintain a balance because I really want Larry to be more than just comic relief. Even if that's exactly what he's good for.

By the way, he did try to help out when the apartments exploded, and indeed helped out, but still feels he could have done better. He has decided to take training more seriously because he really wants to be able to use his power to help, although he does already have people who are willing to let him mess with their memories while practicing.
