Siren's Port City Slamfest is go!
SO. Given that we’ve got a few newcomer entrants in the tournament, I thought it would be a good idea to get the details sorted out in a little plot post. Only one character can actually win, after all, and I figured we should hash this all out before we get started on any actual logging.
The tournament itself will be composed of eight quarter-finalists. If you haven’t already told me you want in but would like to take part, please let me know before Friday! I need to know how many NPCs to come up with for the tournament. Currently signed up are:
Warsman
Claire Stanfield
Bolin (tentative?)
KOS-MOS
Assuming that everyone here wants to get through the qualifiers, any of the eight slots left over will go to NPCs. NPC fights can also be hand-waved, if you’d prefer. Everyone is free to contribute to this list and play them once we know how many people will be joining in (though if we don’t have enough by the time the qualifiers finish I’ll top them up myself). The more obnoxious and out there the better! Just throw them down below.
Now, down to business. The tournament itself will be happening from the 27th- 29th of September (quarter-finals on the 27th, semis on the 28th and the finals on the 29th), with the qualifiers happening on the 8th-9th. I’ll be putting up a log for the qualifiers on the 8th. In the time between the qualifiers and the tournament, there’ll be extensive TV coverage of the tournament and its competitors, which you can play with as you see fit!
Each match of the actual tournament will take place in a separate ring in Grant Stadium. To win a fight, a fighter must do one of the following:
a) Pin an opponent to the ground for ten seconds
b) Knock them out of the boundaries of the ring and keep them there for ten seconds
c) KO them
Attacking a downed opponent is grounds for disqualification, obviously, as is using telepathic powers to influence or control your opponent’s actions. Weapons are also banned. Other than that, though, it’s everything goes! If you’re not sure about what would be okay, let me know. Also everyone has walk-on music. Choose wisely.
What I’d like everyone interested in competing to do is fill out this form:
Player: Self-explanatory.
Character: Also self-explanatory.
How far do you want your character to go?: Are you happy to have your character fall in the qualifiers? Want them to go through to the semis? Or are you interested in them maybe coming out with the title and the belt, if that would be feasible for them?
Strengths: Your character’s strengths! What could help them win a fight? Let everyone know here so fights can be figured out better beforehand.
Weaknesses: On the other hand, how could they lose? Do they have any weaknesses that could be exploited by other characters?
Other shenanigans?: Since the show is part-reality-TV, there could be a lot of manufactured drama. Interested in being voted Number One Hottest Fighter, getting embroiled into wacky relationship scandals or being hounded for photo-ops by eager paparazzi? Importantly, is there anyone specific you’d like to fight? Ask other players, or mention if you’d rather fight an NPC to start off with!
Once this is all settled, I can put up a plan of who’s going to be fighting who, when, and how everyone will place in the end. Then we can all enjoy a great show-time, choose our destiny, aim for great victoly, etc.
On another note! Anyone at all is free to come and watch the fights! The qualifiers will be aired on TV on the following Wednesday and the tournament will be aired live, but tickets to see all fights in person are also available. Please do turn up and say hi! ♥

NPCs
no subject
NPC: "Ultimatum" (aka, Peter Skinner)
Description: A 6'6" slab of pure, tanned muscle with bleach-blond hair and a permanent gurn. He's a well-known fighter at the Knot-A Fight Club and owns a gym peopled with a small army of bodybuilders in the city- but Ultimatum is perhaps best known for the fact that, on-camera, he is apparently incapable of stringing together a coherent sentence, being utterly incomprehensible and somewhat given to excessively masculine grunting. A hot-head with a flare for picking fights.
Powers: The ability to generate sonic booms when the flats of his hands make contact with something (like a slap or a clap); the resulting sound waves can be strong enough to knock his opponents off their feet and a make a distractingly loud bang.
no subject
NPC: Ginger Swan
Description: Advertised as a heel-esque "femme fatale", it's easy to see why Ginger is here- 5'11", svelte and stunningly attractive behind that shock of scarlet hair, she's everything AGI were hoping for when they put out the word. She's not all looks, though- while she plays up to her image, she's also a full-time kickboxing instructor with a serious punch and fifteen years of fighting experience safely under her belt. Plays up to her bombshell image out of the ring- why not, if it nets her some free advertising?
Powers: Super strength. She can lift up to 600lbs with ease and kicks like a truck.
Re: NPCs
NPC: Seth Taylor
Description: Seth is light on his feet and a clever tactician, with a reputation in boxing. A tall, lean black man with a simple style who also works on the SPPD, he's being played up as the no-bullshit choice- he's also the bookie's favourite, unsurprisingly. Also known for being a little unnecessarily forthright with his opinions, not just in regards to his fellow competitors but also when it comes to the competition in general and the way it's being run. Expect plenty of very public complaints about the behind-the-scenes drama machine.
Powers: Super-speed, which he primarily channels into his fists- he's renowned for his super-fast barrage of punches.
no subject
NPC: Anna Lee
Description: Apparently chosen as something of a foil to Ginger, Anna Lee is the competition's 'good girl'; smaller, younger and cuter than her counter-part, she's rarely seen without her trademark pigtails and a lollypop to warm up with. Unsurprisingly, then, people have a tendency to underestimate her in the ring and forget that she didn't just get here on publicity, not realising that she's actually quite the brutal fighter, just about treading on the rules- and she gets away with it, too. Was that a below-the belt kick or did she just trip? It's your call.
Powers: Can create incorporeal multiples of herself.
Warsman
Character: Warsman
How far do you want your character to go?: I’d be interested in having him ultimately win, but I’m totally flexible on the matter. I would like at least one win for him though!
Strengths:
+ Enormous physical strength and endurance.
+ Vast array of wrestling techniques at his disposal.
+ His fighting computer- a programme built into his body that can analyse his opponent’s weaknesses and strengths and allows him to fight more efficiently and effectively.
Weaknesses:
- Warsman’s body is very prone to malfunctioning- removing his mask with any great force, for example, has been known to blind him. I’m sure we could work something out here!
- His fighting computer can only last 30 minutes before his body starts to overheat.
- Psychologically, removing his mask can cause him to freeze up entirely.
Other shenanigans?: Nothing planned for him specifically, but I’m kind of toying with the idea of him and a newcomer friend ending up in a tag-team grudge match with a couple of NPCs after the tournament, if anyone’s up for that! I also don’t have anyone specific in mind for his matches, so if anyone specifically wants to fight Warsman feel free to ask.

Character:Claire Stanfield
How far do you want your character to go?:I'd like him to get through qualifiers, but how far into the actual tournament he goes is up to other people!
Strengths:+ Basically the highest-ranking Top Trumps card in his canon for agility, speed, endurance, and evasion, and pretty high-ranking for strength too. He'd get a decent defence score if his canon weren't full of immortal superhealers...
+ His schtick is that he is a FIGHTING ACROBAT so he does crazyass stuff like doing flips off punches (yes I do mean off, not over).
+ Has a doctorate in "Reading Your Opponent" from the University of Cunning
+ Ridic pain tolerance
+ Difficult to provoke
Weaknesses:- He's a bog standard human with no actual powers.
- Limited to close range attacks
- Any actual superhumans could overpower him
- Surprise attacks and attacks from behind can catch him out... sometimes. Lulling him into a false sense of security and then bringing out the big guns could be one way to take him out. :|a
Other shenanigans?: After his last stab at a fighting tournament ended disgracefully (NOT ACTUALLY HIS FAULT... MOSTLY) Claire's going to be presented as some kind of rebel bad guy character. Like the black night at Medieval Times tournaments, or Wolf from Gladiators, or whoever the WWF equivalent of those guys is... He'll have BAD BOYS BAD BOYS as his walk-on music and interviewers will give him flak for spending time in prison and yeah you get the picture. I'M UP FOR PLAYING HIM OFF ANYONE ♥

Player: Kari
Character: Bolin
How far do you want your character to go?: I'd like to think that as a pro athlete back home--even one without any actual professional training--Bolin is a fairly competent combatant. It'd take him a bit to get used to this style of competition, since he's really only ever taken on benders and... giant evil machines... but I'd like for him to at least make it through a couple rounds.
Strengths:
• Bo's very resilient and has a fair high tolerance for pain.
• He's also got a natural defense mechanism going on: the ground. Throw something at him and he can put up a literal wall to block it. Earthbending is extremely versatile and basically if you're standing on solid ground you're on his turf. /instant rimshot
Weaknesses:
• He's a bit naïve and a little too trusting. It would be easy to lull him into a false sense of security/triumph and then cream him.
• He has no issues fighting women, as one of his best friends is a woman who can kick his ass into next week, but he would automatically go easy on anyone he suspects is younger than him, or anyone notably smaller. He's got a real soft spot for kids and would have a really hard time hitting one, even in a competitive setting.
Other shenanigans?: Claire are you on AIM or Plurk? I keep meaning to actually just nab you to talk one of these days and I keep... not doing it. I'm kawree on Plurk and kawreee (three e's) on AIM and I'll be around tonight after about midnight PST until about 6am PST if you'll be available at all during that time...

Lazarus has failed to saved this the last 5 times, let's try again now that I'm not annoyed
Character: KOS-MOS
How far do you want your character to go?: As far as possible considering how advanced she is.
Strengths:
* Completely mechanical
* Android strength (She can take down and AMWS/AGWS without use one an ES)
* Advanced tactical systems
* A lot of Ethers (Weapons are listed there as well but obviously not applicable to this)
* Hilbert Effect, any opponents that can make themselves intangible will find it impossible once she uses this ability
* Can survive without her power cells due to Mary's Will having Animus
Weaknesses:
* A large enough electrical surge? Maybe? It would have to be strong enough to blow up a planet though.
Other shenanigans?: I'm up for just about anything. Kossy is steadily becoming more sociable but she slips back to being technical and logical at times, Mary is the friendly one, so anyone is welcome to find something to do with that.
