Plot Information: 12/12/12 NORMPOCALYPSE NOW!
At 12:12am on 12/12/12 (That's shortly after midnight, going into Wednesday), Siren's Port is about to be struck by a disaster it is completely unprepared for.
All superpowers and special abilities will abruptly and without warning disappear, citywide, no exceptions. (If you have any questions about how this will work for your character, please ask here, otherwise use your best "powered-down" discretion.) Everyone, everywhere, will get to have a day of numbing normalcy.
Of course, as popular as the new hit tabletop roleplaying game "Nulls & Norms" has been this year, Siren's Port is completely unprepared to deal with an unpowered city. The people of Siren's Port have long prided themselves on being an eclectic bunch of supernatural diversity. Everyday, people rely on their special abilities as a source of income, as a habitual defense mechanism, as a way of life. Mass panic and hysteria is sure to ensue as the public finds itself suddenly "powerless".
Many will instinctively blame The Core, the source of usual haywire- though it's never quite betrayed the unusual citizens of Siren's Port this badly. A noonday march on the Sector 4 Baseball Diamond will break out the SPPD and AGI/SERO Special Unit Forces in full riot gear and tear gas, street violence getting ugly to break up the crowd and defend entry to the core.
So in addition to the riots and doomsayers in the streets, and special abilities sputtering out of their usefulness, you have these following normpocalyptic inconveniences to look forward to shortly:
All electric power grids in the city will be down from 12:12am until 10pm. Limited generator power will be available at City Hospitals, City Hall, and most commercial buildings in Sectors 1 & 2.
All running tap water will run dirty from Darkness pollutants in the morning, and continue to be untreated throughout the day. (Meaning, expect salty sea water from all faucets, sinks and showerheads!) Clean water will return on the morning of the 13th.
Public Transportation (City Buses & The Subway) are down for the count from 12:12am until 10pm. Traffic Lights are also out, so getting anywhere by car may prove hazardous.
The Underground Mall will run on a limited emergency generator until morning sirens on the 12th, then shut down for the remainder of the day and following evening.
Residential and Commercial darkness proofing which relies on additional powered shielding may fail.
The NetVice Newcomer Network will be up and running, under a few limitations:
- Open Network Text & Audio functions only. Holograms & Video are down.
- Private Contact Box messages will not be received until 9pm.
- Electronic NVs which haven't been recently charged may run out of battery power.
